- food: a fan of cooking and dining well, I occasionally post recipes, restaurant reviews and gush enthusiastically about things I have cooked.

- photography. I enjoy using my iPhone 4S to take photos while I’m out, especially those like Instagram that make me look a better photographer than I am.

- Forteana, especially UFO’s. No, I’m not a gullible loony and I don’t believe every crazy conspiracy theory and alien abductee story that I come across. Just as Eddie Izzard once described himself not as your average transvestite, but as an executive transvestite, you might think of me as an executive armchair ufologist who takes a rational, sceptical, but interested approach to the subject. Something damned strange is going on, the understanding of which could be paradigm-toppling if only scientists would drop the giggle-factor and pay attention.

- Freemasonry. A mason in the English constitution of 17 years, I’ll occasionally blog about freemasonry but please don’t treat my opinions on the subject as in any way official.
