About this Blog
Until I restructure the various strands of my interests into separate blogs dedicated to each, you will find posts here about:
- Freemasonry. I’m a freemason, but I’m not a spokesman for the organisation. Anything I say here about freemasonry represents my own opinions and not those of my lodge, or any other lodge, grand or otherwise.
- language: a sometime linguist, I take an interest in the evolution of language and the debates around “correct usage”, accents and dialect.
- food: a bit of a foodie, I will occasionally post recipes, restaurant reviews etc.
- UFO’s. No, I’m not a gullible loony and I don’t believe every crazy conspiracy theory and alien abductee story that I come across. Just as Eddie Izzard once described himself not as your average transvestite, but as an executive transvestite, you might think of me as an executive armchair ufologist who takes a rational, sceptical, but interested approach to the subject. Something damned strange IS going on, the understanding of which could be paradigm-toppling.
- Down’s Syndrome: as father to a child with Down’s Syndrome, I’ll occasionally post about the joys and stresses uniquely experienced by those who are parents to people with Down’s.
- polemical stuff, OK, rants, some motivated by the Telegraph-reader in me, others motivated by my inner Guardian reader.
